The problem
The client initiated a large-scale modernization of its business systems by implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations. The objective was to improve operational efficiency across transport, production, and finance while establishing a modern, scalable ERP foundation.
Rather than appointing a single implementation partner, the client chose a best of breed model, assembling specialists from several consulting firms. While this approach ensured deep expertise, it also introduced complexity:
Multiple vendors with different perspectives and delivery responsibilities
Highly specialized transport and production processes unique to the forest industry
A risk of fragmented solution design and misalignment between business needs and system configuration
The client needed strong customer-side architectural leadership to ensure that the solution reflected real operational workflows, remained technically coherent, and delivered long-term value.
Our approach
Dyve was selected as a key partner and embedded on the customer side of the program. Dyve provided a dedicated Solution Architect focusing on the transport and production domains, two of the most critical and complex areas of the business.
Working as part of the customer’s core team, Dyve took a central role in design and decision-making by:
Translating operational requirements into clear, feasible D365 solution designs
Guiding business discussions toward scalable configurations rather than generic ERP templates
Explaining system capabilities and constraints to support informed decisions
Representing the customer’s interests in architectural and technical forums
A major focus was breaking down the complexity of forest-industry specific processes. Dyve mapped end to end workflows, identified critical touchpoints, and designed how these should be represented in D365. This contributed to a shared understanding across business stakeholders and multiple consulting partners.
In a multi-vendor setup, alignment was essential. Dyve contributed to cross team discussions, visualizing process flows that all vendors could build upon and ensuring continuity from workshops and design sessions to technical implementation.
Beyond architecture and design, Dyve also supported end-user education and training material creation to prepare the organization for go-live and drive early adoption.
Our impact
The client successfully went live with a modern D365 Finance & Operations platform with:
Clearly defined, well-supported transport and production processes
A coherent solution design despite contributions from multiple vendors
Improved alignment between operational reality and system configuration
Stronger organizational readiness and user understanding at go-live
The customer’s strategy of handpicking specialists proved effective, and Dyve was a key contributor to making that model work. By combining deep ERP expertise, industry insight, and customer-side architectural leadership, Dyve helped turn a complex, high risk transformation into a unified and scalable solution.
As a result, the client gained an ERP solution where complex, forest-industry specific transport and production processes were clearly reflected in the system design, decisions were anchored in real operational needs, and multiple vendors worked from a shared architectural foundation. What began as a high-risk, multi-vendor initiative concluded as a coherent D365 platform that the organization understood, trusted, and could build on long after go-live.
