Women in Tech - Breaking Barriers at Dyve

Author: Robyn

Jan 30, 2025

Women make up just 30% of the global STEM workforce, highlighting the gender imbalance in technology and consulting. Despite progress, barriers such as underrepresentation in leadership roles, pay disparities, and limited work-life flexibility continue to hinder equal opportunities for women. At Dyve, we see this as an opportunity to drive change. We believe diversity is not just a goal – it is a core strength. A workplace with diverse perspectives enrich our culture, foster better decision-making and enables us to deliver better solutions for our customers. While progress has been made, there is still much work to be done. At Dyve, we are determined to be part of the solution - breaking barriers, challenging the status quo, and creating opportunities for women to excel in tech and consulting.

Through the voices of our female team members, we share their journeys and thoughts on personal growth and opportunities at Dyve. Meet some of the remarkable women shaping the future of tech and consulting.

Julia Eriksson, a newer addition to the Dyve team, reflects on her journey so far: "Joining Dyve has been an incredibly rewarding experience. From the very first day, I felt genuinely welcomed and included - not only in the broader Dyve team but also within the project teams I’ve been part of. The energy and enthusiasm everyone brings to their work makes it clear people are not only deeply engaged in what they do but also truly care about the success of Dyve and the individuals within it."

One of Julia’s standout assignments involved hosting a series of successful workshops for a global client using a hybrid Teams setup.

"With effective tools, planning, time management, and clear discussions, the sessions ran seamlessly," she says. Another key project began with an IT spend analysis to improve cost control and transparency. "We managed to expand the scope to also develop and implement a new IT financial model, ready for the client’s use in the following year," Julia explains. "This not only delivered lasting value but also provided me with invaluable learning opportunities."

When asked about Dyve’s culture, Julia highlights its inclusivity and how it supports personal growth: "Dyve empowers me by fostering an environment where I am encouraged to take on new challenges, while always knowing that I have a strong safety net. Everyone is encouraged to speak up and share their perspectives, with all opinions being valued. The support and feedback culture here is exceptional, creating a safe space for growth, collaboration and inclusion – where diversity is not just a goal, but a priority actively pursued in everything we do”.

Olivia Persson Hedin highlights what makes Dyve a standout employer for women in tech: “For me, the core question is how a workplace chooses to view things and why. At Dyve, it can be sufficient that we do something simply because we, as a team, want to shape our workplace in a particular way. If we believe in it, we are confident it will create positive ripple effects. This principle applies to our company values, to the balance between growth and recruitment criteria, and to our dedication to making a sustainable impact for ourselves and our clients."

She emphasizes Dyve’s dynamic nature, adding, “This shows that Dyve is in constant movement and seeks to attract individuals who thrive in such an environment - a quality I believe many women value.” Olivia also points to Dyve’s approach to technology as a key differentiator: “To provide relevant advice to our clients, we think it’s essential to have deep tech expertise, ensuring that our colleagues remain highly relevant in the market.”

As Head of People, Olivia describes Dyve’s culture as both distinctive and ever-evolving: “Dyve’s culture is clear in its essence yet difficult to define fully. It’s inclusive, fun, and empowering, while also being professional, entrepreneurial, and inspiring grit. Culture is delicate and shaped entirely by what we create as a collective.” To continue strengthening this foundation, she has introduced Culture HIITs, focused sessions designed to engage employees in meaningful discussions about shaping Dyve’s culture. “These sessions provide opportunities to deep-dive into topics we believe will help us build a company we can truly be proud of,” she shares.

Reflecting on how Dyve’s culture translates into client work, Olivia explains: “Our deep tech expertise and collaborative approach allow us to deliver meaningful impact while staying true to our values as a team. It’s about more than just solutions - it’s about fostering trust and making a real difference.”

2023 marked a huge milestone when Johanna Weidenmark was the first woman to join Dyve. She reflects on her decision to take the leap: “I really enjoy working as a consultant, being able to challenge customers every day and being challenged by them. I find it exciting to have the opportunity to work with different kinds of organizations and solve various challenges. However, I was tired of the big company environment, with its hierarchy and long, complicated processes for promotion. I felt that my creativity, ideas, and ambition weren’t getting the attention they deserved.

Since joining Dyve, Johanna has thrived in its dynamic and collaborative environment. “The journey has been great so far,” she says. “I’ve had the opportunity to work with exciting customers and fun projects. It’s incredible that, despite being a relatively small firm, we collaborate with large, well-known clients. I’ve also had the chance to contribute to our internal growth and development, which I find highly stimulating and rewarding. When I started, there were only six employees, and now, 1.5 years later, we are almost 20!

Johanna particularly values the opportunities for growth at Dyve: “At Dyve, I feel empowered to grow, and much of it depends on defining what you want to achieve based on your ambitions. While personal initiative is essential, Dyve also provides a great mentorship program where you can bounce ideas off others and receive feedback. Additionally, being surrounded by ambitious and talented colleagues has significantly contributed to my personal and professional growth.”

For Emelie Wetterhag, Dyve’s collaborative spirit has been central to her experience. “Even in projects that we manage independently, there’s always someone to bounce ideas with, which creates a sense of us supporting each other and truly collaborating as a team,” she shares. This culture of collaboration has been a consistent theme throughout her journey at Dyve.

Currently, Emelie is managing a digitalization project for a Swedish government agency, aimed at increasing operational efficiency and improving core processes. “It’s rewarding to help set the direction for more effective operations and see the tangible impact of our work,” she explains. The assignment, which she has been leading independently, showcases her ability to combine strategic thinking with technical execution - an approach that aligns perfectly with Dyve’s focus on bridging business and technology.

Coming from a background in business development and strategy, Emelie has found her previous experience invaluable in her current role. “Understanding the business perspective has been highly useful, especially when aligning tech initiatives with a company’s strategic objectives,” she says. Drawing from past successes and challenges, she sees Dyve’s emphasis on advising at the intersection of business and tech as a key differentiator. “This focus gives companies a real edge and enables us to deliver solutions that truly create value.”

Rebecca Fjällborg describes herself as “a curious person who thrives in changing environments,” which made consulting a natural career choice. “I love meeting new people and exploring new places and perspectives. Consulting is really a career that lets me do all of that.” What has kept Rebecca engaged at the intersection of business and technology is the evolving role of tech in driving strategy and transformation. “Technology is no longer just a supporting function - it’s at the heart of how businesses innovate and operate. Whether it’s leveraging AI, adopting cloud platforms, or modernizing infrastructure, every company has its unique challenges. Helping clients navigate these complexities and use technology as a tool for growth keeps this career dynamic and never boring. It’s the perfect combination for a curious soul like me!”

As Head of Branding at Dyve, Rebecca reflects on how branding contributes to achieving the company’s vision and mission: “For me, branding is about more than just recognition - it’s about building trust, showcasing innovation, and ensuring our brand reflects who we are and what we stand for. When a brand resonates deeply with both employees and clients, it creates a cycle of growth and long-term relationships.”

She also emphasizes the importance of Dyve’s culture to achieve our mission: “For our employees, strong branding highlights Dyve as a place where they can thrive, grow, and feel part of a supportive team. It’s about fostering a culture of professional and personal growth, creating an environment with great leaders and role models, and offering challenging assignments that push us forward together.”

On the client side, Rebecca underscores Dyve’s commitment to being a trusted advisor: “In consulting, it all comes down to delivering sharp, exceptional results. For us, that means combining deep technical expertise with strong business understanding, being flexible to meet client needs, and having the courage to challenge the status quo. At Dyve, we’re proud to have these qualities, which in turn allow us to empower our clients and make them real rockstars!”

Dyve is committed to creating a workplace where diversity and inclusivity are more than just ideals - they are actionable priorities. We support women in tech by continuously assessing our recruitment processes to eliminate bias, offering flexibility through robust parental leave policies with salary top-ups, and ensuring mentorship and leadership opportunities are accessible to all. By fostering an inclusive culture and prioritizing continuous improvement, Dyve is breaking barriers and setting new standards in tech and consulting.
